Racin in the Basin

The big fun event this year is our ‘Racin in the Basin’ Docklands Raft Challenge. Teams of four race while paddling rafts on the Grand Canal Basin, between the McMahon Bridge and Hanover Quay, once circling our floating golf island. This event is in aid of the Irish Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (IUSRU) and all proceeds from raft fees and sponsorships go to them. Rafts are €120 each and sponsorship cards are available on request.

‘Racin in the Basin’ Docklands Raft Challenge is on Sunday 21st May as part of the Waterways Ireland Docklands Summer Festival and has limited availability. Life jackets and safety boat provided. This is kindly supported by 98FM.

The Irish Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (IUSRU) is a charity registered in the republic of Ireland, CHY20132, and is a charity 100% run by volunteers.

When persons go missing within our rivers, canals, lakes or around our coasts they go beyond the reach of the public and require specialist equipment and personnel to bring them home, the IUSRU is made up of a dedicated team of volunteers whose objective is to recover them.

Contact the Docklands Business Forum at (01) 480 0543 to book your team.

Please Note: In the interest of safety, please do not enter the water during the festival unless as part of an official supervised festival event.
